BYM Working Group on Militarism

The Baltimore Yearly Meeting working group on U.S. war and militarism is planning a retreat to be held at Frederick Friends Meeting on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.  The central focus will be on responding to the renewed and terrifying threat of nuclear weapons and war. You do not have to be a member of the working group to attend and learn more about the issue.  

The agenda is not completely finalized, and we anticipate one or more speakers as well as small group discussions.  Here is the current tentative agenda: (1)  Help us become a support group for each other, where we could share information, issues, and fears. (2)  Identify things that each of our Monthly Meetings can do that will help to inform us and gather us together, as we strive to build a national movement to eliminate these weapons. (3) Provide some information on particular aspects of nuclear weapons and weapons policy that some of us may not know or understand, to help us become more knowledgeable and self-confident, and thus more effective. Both a continental breakfast and lunch will be served (please bring some cash to reimburse our hosts!)
