The goal of the literature table volunteers is to offer for sale a selection of books that we hope is of interest and value to the BFM community. In 2005-06, the literature table operated during Sunday coffee hour following the 11:00 a.m. Meeting for Worship from September through June and during one Sunday coffee hour each month during July and August. In 2005-06, the literature table was staffed by three volunteers: Corry Rooks, Tilly Muller, and Wes Mason. During 2006-07, it will be staffed by four volunteers: Corry Rooks, Tilly Muller, Leslie Sussan, and Jim Rooks.
In December 2005, we held a special holi-day sale of children's books that we hoped would be of interest to Meeting children and their families. In April 2006, we held a clearance sale of old books that the Meeting library had discarded and literature table pamphlets that had gone unsold for several years.
The 2005-06 records we have include in-voices for orders placed with QuakerBooks, the Friends General Conference bookstore, totaling $1,208.97. Literature table sales totaled $1,285.96. On June 25, 2006, we had $40.20 in cash on hand. The inventory we took on July 2, 2006, showed the list prices of books totaled $1,233.53. Copies of the invoices from QuakerBooks, the handwritten log in which literature table sales were recorded, and the July 2006 literature table inventory are attached to the Clerk's copy of this report.
The literature table volunteers look forward to continuing to offer a useful selection of books for sale during the coming year. To that end, we welcome suggestions of titles that we can add to our offerings.
