 ARE: Radical Faithfulness
Date: 09/23/2018
Time: 9:30:00 AM
Description:
Radical Faithfulness in Action. Please join us in the Music Room in the basement of the SAM building across the patio from the Meetinghouse on Sunday, September 23, at 9:30 a.m. for a talk by Steve Chase on the importance of faith-based activism for social justice, peace, and sustainability as an essential element of our nurturing the seed of the beloved community in our midst.
He will use Martin Luther King’s notion of “Creative Maladjustment” to describe Quaker radicalism at its best. He will also explore how we can help each other “grow our comfort zones” to be able to show up in what early Friends called the nonviolent revolutionary “Lamb’s War” for a “Peaceable Kingdom.”
Do you feel called to a more creative activism for a more spiritually fulfilling, socially just, and ecologically sustainable world? Would you like to leave behind a life hobbled by denial, despair, and distraction and engage in more abundant and adventurous living? Steve Chase has been interested in the mystical and activist dimensions of our radical Quaker faith since he became a Quaker at age 13.
